Prof. Dr. Singgih Tri Sulistiyono, M. Hum. is a Professor of Maritime History at Diponegoro University. He is also listed as Deputy Director of the Center for Asian Studies (CAS) at the Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University. His early works primarily focused on the Java Sea, which is part of the framework of The Java Sea Networks, a collaboration between Diponegoro University, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and Leiden Universiteit. Through this research project, Prof. Dr. Singgih Tri Sulistiyono, M. Hum. earned his doctorate from Leiden Universiteit after defending his thesis on the Java Sea network and the formation of national economic integration in Indonesia in the 19th century. Currently, his research focuses on the world of early modern maritime networks and economic transformation. His works have also been published by several leading journals such as Marine Policy, Journal of Marine and Island Culture, Itinerario, and JATI-Journal of Southeast Asian Studies, as well as by the International Zheng He Society in Malacca, among others.
