Prof. Dr. Endang Susilowati, M.A., serves as a Professor of Maritime History at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Diponegoro University. Additionally, she holds the position of senior researcher at the Center for Southeast Asian Maritime Culture and History Studies at the same institution. Her paper, titled ‘The Impact of Modernization on Boats: Shipping in Banjarmasin, 1970–1990,’ was among the selected works presented at the Southeast Asian Studies Workshop at Leiden University, the Netherlands, from January 22–26, 2001. One of her notable research projects is ‘Southeast Asian Maritime Networks and Diplomacy in Transition: Batavia, Macau, and American Shipping, 1622–1820.’ Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Endang Susilowati, M.A., is deeply engaged with issues of nationalism among the inhabitants of Indonesia’s outermost islands.
