The Department of History, Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) of Diponegoro University (Undip) carried out a Field Work Lecture (KKL) on April 22-26 2019. The activity with the theme “Reading Archives, Taking Care of History, Refusing to Forget” was attended by 66 students. KKL started by searching for sources at the Yogyakarta Development Library and then continuing the journey to Jakarta. Some of the places visited in Jakarta include: the Indonesian National Archives (ANRI), the Library of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), and the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia.

This activity which aims to assist students in compiling thesis proposals is routinely carried out every year, and must be followed by all sixth semester students. Through direct research activities in the field, it is hoped that students will be trained to search archives so that they can graduate on time.
Marlina, one of the KKL participants admitted that she was happy and gained a lot of experience after participating in KKL activities to several libraries that store resources for thesis writing. “Thank you Department of History for facilitating this activity. I got a lot of new knowledge and experience.” he said. He also admitted that he was more prepared to face the next semester when he had to start compiling a thesis proposal.

After carrying out archive searches in Jakarta, the KKL delegation ended the trip by visiting the Army Library in Bandung. The Army Library was chosen primarily to facilitate students who are interested in military themes as a thesis topic.
