Semarang, September 26, 2025 – The History Study Program, Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University, successfully held a soft skills workshop titled “Building Personal Branding as a History Student.” The event took place virtually through the Zoom teleconference platform on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM (WIB). The primary goal of this workshop was to equip history students, particularly those within the History Study Program, Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University, to build their image and personal persona (personal branding) both in the real world and online (social media).
The event was opened by Dr. Rabith Jihan Amaruli, M.Hum., Secretary of the History Study Program, Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University, who also conveyed a message about the importance of building one’s image and persona as a history student. This aligns with the challenges of the digital era, so that graduates become high-quality and competent historians.
The speaker for this workshop was Wavin Nuha Kuntanaka, S.Hum., M.Han., Government Relations & Program Coordinator for Bappenas Secretariat DT Global, guided by Khairana Zata Nugroho, M.Hum., and moderated by Keke Pahlevi Daradjati, S.Pd., M.A.

During this workshop, Wavin explained the importance of personal branding as a way to achieve success in the digital age; it serves as a powerful method to attain career goals and showcase the results of individual work to the public. In addition, personal branding is beneficial for expanding one’s network, creating better opportunities, and even opening up business prospects. Some ways to do this include: recognizing the values within oneself, evaluating your current self-image, constructing narratives (framing: creating your own version of your story), promoting/spreading these narratives and strengthening your persona, communicating your goals and intentions, as well as building networks with various parties, including global/international networks.

Participants actively engaged in the workshop through Q&A sessions with the speaker. It is hoped that, gradually, participants will start activities to build their own personas, especially related to positive activities during their studies, reinforcing their academic side so its quality can be highlighted to the public, and on the non-academic side; channelling hobbies, building a personal portfolio, entrepreneurship, best work value, becoming a volunteer, content creator, honing foreign language skills, and global networking.
