The Department of History, Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University, Holds Guest Lecture on Salafi Education in Post-Reformation Jember

On October 3, 2025, the Department of History, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Diponegoro University held an online Guest Lecture via the Zoom platform. The event, running from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. WIB, carried the theme “Response to the Presence of (Salafi) Education in Post-Reformation Jember.” Prof. Dr. Alamsyah, M.Hum., Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, officially opened the event.

This lecture aimed to provide a deeper understanding of the development of Salafi education in the post-reformation era, particularly in Jember. Dr. Johny Alfian Khusyairi, S.Sos., M.A., an expert from Airlangga University, served as the main speaker. He delivered a comprehensive analysis of the historical background, dissemination patterns, and socio-cultural impacts of Salafi education in Jember.

Dr. Rabith Jihan Amaruli, S.S., M.Hum. from Diponegoro University acted as moderator, guiding the interactive discussion. Dr. Khusyairi emphasized how the reformation era paved the way for the growth of various streams of Islamic thought, including Salafi, and its influence on education in Jember.The enthusiasm of participants was evident during the question-and-answer session, reflecting the high interest in contemporary Islamic education issues. It is hoped that this event will spark further discussion and encourage in-depth research on the dynamics of Islamic education in post-reformation Indonesia.
