On Sunday (May 18, 2025), the Diponegoro University History Student Association once again held a Maritime Study Group (MSG) event with the theme “Exploring the Maritime Heritage of Tambak Lorok: History, Culture, and Coastal Life.” This activity was organized as a forum for students interested in studying coastal communities and maritime affairs, with a focus on the Tambak Lorok area in Semarang. The event was officially opened by the Head of the History Undergraduate Program, Prof. Dr. Dhanang Respati Puguh, M.Hum. In his speech, he said that the MSG, which had been inactive, was now experiencing a revival and encouraged the Association to continue holding such events.

Prior to the presentation and discussion, MSG participants conducted field observations at Tambak Lorok in May 2025. During this opportunity, students interacted with the local community to gain a deeper understanding of the social, cultural, and historical aspects of coastal communities. This experience was expected to strengthen students’ understanding of the dynamics of coastal communities firsthand.
As a follow-up to the field activities, the students, divided into several groups, then wrote scientific articles based on their respective research topics using the data they had collected. These articles were then presented to a panel of reviewers, one of whom was a lecturer from the History Undergraduate Program, Khairana Zata Nugroho, M.Hum.
