Inspiring an Environmentally Conscious Generation: Educating on Organizing Stationery and Making Eco-Friendly Pencil Cases at Kindergarten Muslimat NU Kebagusan

Pemalang Regency, July 26, 2023 – Students from TIM II KKN, Diponegoro University, held a history monodisciplinary program aimed at inspiring early childhood children to become more environmentally conscious by teaching them to organize their stationery and to create eco-friendly pencil cases from recycled materials. This activity sought to explore historical values regarding the importance of protecting the environment from ancient times and to apply creativity to reduce plastic waste.

The children of TK Muslimat NU Kebagusan eagerly participated in this activity. Guided by teachers and university students, they were invited to understand how people in the past cared for the environment and valued natural resources.

The activity began with stories and historical illustrations highlighting the importance of keeping things clean and organizing stationery and other items for better use. The children also learned about the values of cleanliness and discipline passed down from previous generations.

After understanding these historical values, the children were then invited to get creative. They learned how to neatly organize their stationery. The university students also introduced the concept of creativity by teaching them how to make pencil cases from recycled materials such as plastic bottles, cardboard, and leftover gift wrap.

With great enthusiasm, the children began crafting their unique pencil cases. They combined the recycled materials they brought with creative ideas, resulting in a variety of interesting and eco-friendly pencil cases.

“This activity is really fun,” said Fahbian, one of the students from TK Muslimat NU Kebagusan.

The Principal of TK Muslimat NU Kebagusan, Ms. Prisma, said, “We hope that through this educational activity, the children will grow into individuals who are more sensitive to environmental issues. By organizing their stationery and creating pencil cases from recycled materials, they learn to contribute to keeping the environment clean and reducing plastic waste.”

With a spirit of togetherness and eagerness to learn, this history monodisciplinary program at TK Muslimat NU Kebagusan successfully provided a valuable educational experience for the students. (Dewi Afriani Lubis)
